Thank you to Mum

We had a lovely day at the Lambing Event at Easton College today. We saw lots of piglets, cows and sheep with their lambs!

After the event, my Mum and Dad popped into Sainsbury’s and got everyone dinner – awwh! It was a lovely surprise! After such a nice day out, we then had a lovely day at their house!

I made Mum and Dad a card to say thank you.

Mini Albums get even smaller!!

I have an interest in mini albums at the moment, and am in the middle of making some. But I thought I’m make some Tiny Albums!

I used my XCut system to cut the card for these Tiny Albums.

Tiny Album Oval Lilac Tiny Album Oval Lilac2

Bound with a binding ring and decorated with ribbon, I have left this album blank for the recipient’s own decoration.

Bound with a loose set eyelet, so the pages can freely move. Decorated with patterned papers throughout and a ribbon around the front.

Elsbeth’s Card

Garry’s cousin, Elsbeth, is nine on 21st March, so I have made her a cute little card with Stampin’ Up!’s Butterfly Punch and coordinating stamp set “Flight of the Butterfly”.

Elsbeth Birthday Card

The butterfly is punched from white cardstock, stamped with Stampin’ Up! Apricot Appeal ink, then stamped again with the floral butterfly in Pixie Pink ink by Stampin’ Up!. Even though I haven’t stood it up for the photo, it is intended to be 3D.
The aperture was cut with a 1-3/8” Circle punch (SU!) and the pink card was cut with the same punch but then punched again with the slightly bigger SU!’s Scallop Circle punch.
The small flowers are also in the Flight of the Butterfly set, as is the butterfly on the inside.
I love the sentiment, although the black is a little harsh and I wish I had a grey ink perhaps?!

I even decorated the envelope!!

I couldn’t stop there for the night though. I had to make another sweet birthday card. It isn’t intended for anybody in particular, but will just be added to the “reserve” pile!!

New Stampin’ Up! Delivery

I had my order sent to Lisa’s house this time, and I couldn’t wait to use it all!!

I ordered some replacement blades for my Fiskars paper trimmer – as my current one is as blunt as anything! I got the SU!’s Mat pack – it has the funky paper piercing guide with it, which will come in very handy.

My new inks to replace my old ones are fantastic!! I’m still rather covered in the ink as I write this post!! I ordered:

  • Basic Black
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Close To Cocoa
  • Glorious Green
  • Pixie Pink
  • Lavender Lace
  • Apricot Appeal
  • Bashful Blue

I also now officially have the Butterfly Punch, and Flight of the Butterfly stamp set! Yayyy!!

I am thrilled, and have so many ideas for these!

Happy Mother’s Day!

My Husband awoke and took the girls downstairs, even though he has been suffering incredibly recently with his deteriorating condition, leaving me to lay in bed for a bit. Ah bliss. The sun was shining through the curtains, warming the room nicely.

I thought about Jade Goody, who sadly lost her battle against cancer this time last year, and her two beautiful boys Bobby and Freddie. I thought about how lucky I am to have my girls and our health.

Garry brought me up a lovely cup of tea in bed – and a round of toast (that’s Garry’s two slices, and us Norfolk folk’s 1 slice! Here it is two slices though)

When I went downstairs I was presented with a lovely box of Cadbury’s Roses and some cards! And here they are..

We had a wonderful morning together, then we went to my Mother’s house for home-made Chinese food buffet-style! Both my grandmothers were there too! Lots of Mothers under one roof!! It was a lovely day. Thank you everyone xx

A card for both Mums

I didn’t have a huge amount of time to complete the two cards for my Mother and my Mother-in-Law. I had received my new Sizzix Originals die (Bunny w/ Flower) just a couple of weeks ago and wanted to use it for Mother’s Day cards and Easter!!

I had an idea in mind of what I wanted this card to look like, and they came out better than expected!!

Rose Mothers Day Card Mar 2010

Using my new XCut system, I cut a medium oval aperture toward the bottom of the card. I cut out a larger oval in dark purple to mount the bunny onto. I stuck this on the inside front of the card, on 3D pads. On the second card I made (which I don’t have a photo of), I embossed the dark purple oval with my Sizzix “Dots” Embossing folder.
I layered the Bunny with paper here and regretted it. The second card, I used cardstock, which came out much better!
The images stamped were from the See-D’s “Springtime Swirls” kit. The Mum are die cuts from my Sizzix “In My Heart” 35-die Alphabet set.

I am in love with the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Circle punch, and love making different flowers from them. The purple flower has a blob of Stickles “Star Dust” on every other petal, and the petals without the Stickles I have pierced three small holes. And finished off with a cute button for the centre!

Rose Mothers Day Card Detail 2 Mar 2010

This pink flower I cut down every other petal to create a “heart” shape. I lightly inked the edges and sides of the petals. Down one side on each I made five holes with my piercing tool. I then creased them and added a 5mm Gem Brad (from PaperMania, I think!!)

Insides of cards can often be neglected, and so I wanted to work on this too.

Rose Mothers Day Card 2 Mar 2010

I hadn’t planned on using a scallop circle punch for the stamped sentiment on the lhs, but I smudged the original stamped image, and needed to cover it up!!! The stamp set used is by Stampin’ Up! and is the “Whimsical Word” set. I think it worked well, and it does look better than how I had originally planned it. The edges have been inked with purple.
I have used bows too much recently, so decided to use just a plain piece of ribbon to finish off the patterned paper.
The Happy Mother’s Day sentiment was stamped, again, using the “Springtime Swirls” kit, as is the butterfly.

The butterflies looked a little too plain, so I used a dab of glue in the centre of their upper wings, then sprinkled on some “Soft Pink” Ultra Fine Glitter from Kars.

Mini Tag Album

As with Louise’s card in my previous post,I have been planning this for a while now. I specifically went out to buy the new “Honey and Hugs” Collection from PaperMania for this project. I love the collection! The animals are so sweet!!

This album is a 12”x12” black cardstock folded and then decorated. I handmade three tags to fit inside the pockets.

Embellishments used – Mulberry flowers, mini ribbon bows, mini heart and star buttons, buttons, eyelets, ribbon and animal cut-outs from the patterned paper.

This demonstrates how the album looks with two of the tags out. Each tag has been decorated, embellished and has a colour coordinating eyelet and purple ribbon at the top. The tag on the mat has a tri-fold journaling card, which itself has been decorated inside.

The album folds up and is bound by the yellow ribbon, which runs through the inside of the entire album.

I will be making this again in the future, and have certain things I’d change to improve it!
